The PersonalHero.com site was created to celebrate the people in our lives who have had a positive influence on us and the world. It is intended to focus on Personal Heroes , not public figures that are all too often called heroes because of their celebrity. I firmly believe that the world would be a fundamentally different and better place if there was more focus on all the great people in the world that have a positive impact on those around them.
This site gives you the opportunity to publicly praise some of the people who have made a difference in your life. All too often we dont’ tell people how much they have meant to us. There many millions of average people who have done amazing things to affect the lives of others around them. This is your place to tell the world about someone who is your own personal hero!
In our many societies what is frequently passes for "news" is nothing more than a continual focus on disaster and tragedies that are hyped up by media to make them as dramatic as possible in order to sell advertising. News has become almost synonymous with entertainment of the worst kind that feeds on sensationalism and voyeurism. This is has become even more pronounced with 24 hour news stations that need to hype the tragedies even more to fill up all that air time. I am convinced that the effect of this on people is to contribute to the depression, anxiety, and feelings of hopelessness that many people suffer.
I intend this site to be an antidote to all unhealthy "news" that permeates our lives. The stories here will help you discover that there are a millions of average people out there doing great things without any thought of celebrity or fame. The human condition is not nearly as sick and hopeless as the main stream media would have you believe. We all have times when we need a hero to help us get through difficult times. The truth is they are all around us!
